As you may remember, in the previous articles I have already discussed the main principles of the paleo diet and how it works. You already know that it is one of the best options to lose weight without putting much effort into it.
Today, in our article I will discuss top tips that can improve your way to the perfect body. You have already changed your diet and I have to say that it’s great! However, there are some more habits that will definitely help you lose weight and feel happy.
Tip #1: Consume only simple foods
One of the main reasons why the paleo diet has so many followers around the world is that it gives an opportunity to lose weight without being too cautious when it comes to food.
It is a proven fact that if you eat simple foods, you consume it in small amounts that prevent overeating and even promotes good weight loss results.
So, what does it mean to eat only simple foods? The answer is that you should be sure that the food you eat is exceptionally healthy one. It means, meat and fish, as mentioned in my previous articles, vegetables, nuts (except for peanuts and all the legumes), and some fruits.
Don’t think that the paleo diet is boring, there are a lot of great recipes that will please you with healthy and delicious dishes. For your everyday diet, you should use simple recipes without unnecessary ingredients and flavor.
Leave complicated recipes for holidays or some special occasions.
Tip #2: No starvation in any case
Many people think that if they want to lose weight, they obviously should consume less food. However, they are absolutely wrong since in this case, the body lacks a great number of necessary nutrients and vitamins and thus causing stress.
What is more, it is even dangerous since it harms your metabolic processes, it means that your body burns fewer calories that can cause even lead to gaining extra kilos!
You should remember that in any case, you do not have to make your body suffer from starving. It doesn’t mean that the number of calories is not important, you should count but do not forget about nutrients needed for your body.
The paleo diet is so popular among those who want to lose extra kilos because you can eat such types of food that make you feel satiated and don’t lead to overweighting.
The core of the paleo diet is not to make you restrict food but eat less naturally, otherwise, the body starts suffering from the small amount of necessary elements. It means that this diet offers meals that make you eat less but without a harm to your health as it happens in some famous diets.
It makes the paleo diet number one among different diets famous all over the world.
Tip #3: Don’t forget that your body needs enough carbohydrates
The number of carbohydrates differs from person to person since some people can consume fewer carbs and remain very active while others cannot.
Here, the key reason is their physical activity, as it is very important for those who want to lose extra weight to stay active in the gym or at least do some physical exercises at home.
So, as you see there is no need to limit your carbs consumption, just be more active. Restriction of carbohydrates may lead to exhaustion of your body since physical activity should be compensated with a high level of carbs in food.
There are a lot of people struggling with excess weight who limit their consumption of carbs and start exercising more often. Some of them even stop eating fruits and vegetables to absolutely exclude carbs from the diet. However, such people harm their bodies even without suspecting it.
Restricting carbs in the diet can be recommended only to those people who cannot have an active lifestyle due to some health problems. In this case, fewer carbs will bring more good than harm.
However, if you don’ have any diseases and have an active lifestyle, or your job demands a lot of energy, you cannot limit carbs consumption. Otherwise, you will feel fatigue and exhaustion. For such people, it is recommended to match the carbs level (15-30%) to their physical activity.
Tip #4: Physical activity is good for you
A sedentary lifestyle can spoil you all the plans you have regarding weight loss. We live in the world where you don’t have to move much, we use cars, we sit at our desks and have no need to do extra moves.
And in this case, your rare visiting of the local gym will not improve the situation with overweighting. The solution of the problem lies in being active all day long, sticking to a diet and of course, doing exercises in the gym.
In my previous articles, I mentioned why it is so dangerous to keep a sedentary lifestyle and gave some useful tips concerning it.
You should understand that having a habit of moving all day long will not only help you to lose weight but also will improve your health and prevent a great number of chronic diseases.
Tip #5: Keep an eye on the color of the urine
Still not sure if you drink enough water? Our fluid requirements vary depending on the height, weight, exercise intensity, and even the weather. The best way to check whether there is enough fluid in your body – is to look at the color of urine.
If the color is pale yellow, it means that you drink enough. Over dark yellow color indicates that it is necessary to drink more.
Tip #6: Ask somebody to help you
If among your friends and relatives there are no people who can support you, there is a good option for you! You can find the paleo diet followers on the Internet. Social networks will provide you with information where such people gather together or where you can find people who also need your support.
Tip #7: Mix carbohydrates with proteins and fats
The balance of carbohydrates, protein, and fat in each meal will help keep your energy level always in check, as well as preserve muscle healthy. Try to cook porridge with milk, yogurt with granola, poached eggs, and toast, plus add a little fruit and berries for breakfast.
The main dish for lunch or dinner can be salmon with sauteed vegetables and spaghetti, rigatoni pasta with pumpkin, lean steak, a salad with tomatoes and spinach.
As a snack, opt for almonds, dried apricots, and fruits – all this will increase the energy level between the main meals and you will not feel tired.
Tip #8: Replace saturated fats with unsaturated
Useful for heart unsaturated fats, which are found in an avocado, oily fish, nuts, seeds and vegetable oils provide us with a fantastic energy. They will also help improve metabolism, your mood, and brain function.
Reduce your intake of foods containing saturated fats (such as fatty cream, meat products, and baked products). This fat makes you feel heaviness and lethargy during sports.
Tip #9: Rejoice yourself
This is my most favorite item. Here’s what on this subject says Kate, “Life is too short to limit yourself in everything. I really like the 80/20 rule. 80% I stick to a healthy diet, and 20% leave for fun. For me, it’s a piece of my favorite restorative chocolate cake.”
Tip #10: Change the whole life, not just diet and exercise
I hope that you have already guessed that except the diet and visiting the gym there are many more things that contribute to good results at your fight with extra pounds.
For instance, problems with sleep such as bad sleep make us hungrier in the morning while as you know stresses make us eat a lot and even overeat. In its turn, it leads to harm to health gaining weight.
It is also proven that people who can fight stress, read appropriate literature and has moral support from relatives and friends more likely will lose weight and will not gain it again
If you want to handle stress, it is recommended for you to pay attention to yoga or meditation. Maybe you feel uncomfortable while shopping and at this moment you think that you made a mistake by changing your lifestyle.
So, I recommend you creating a plan or shopping list at home. It will cause less stress at the grocery store. As it was mentioned above, ask somebody to help you during this uneasy period of life. Such a support will help you to cope with stress, to lose more weight and then will not gain it again and what is more to feel happy at that time.
